What makes a good Talent Manager?


According to Insights for Professionals (2019), talent managers should have below skills in order to perform and nurture in their jobs.

Creativity

Creativity means talent managers should be innovative in A-Z talent management process from selecting to retain employees. As such, they need to be creative rather than relying on traditional methods.

Analytical Skills

Good talent managers should have analytical skills to analyze wide range of data set at clearance to make strong decisions. Particularly, analyzing people and their behaviors will help them to identify their staff and their interests. From that, they can identify which are performing their tasks well and which areas needs to improve.

Networking

A good talent manager should be filled with network and contacts. Having professional contacts in skilled people will help them to hire best fitting individuals to their companies. Also, this will help them to identify are candidates really looking for a job or not. Also, are they matched with their requirements or not.

Adopting change

Adopting change means there will always be unparalleled questions to answer and new objectives to achieve. As a talent manager, an individual needs to be open-minded, adaptable and resilient to succeed in this dynamic environment.

Adopting technology

Also, a good talent manager should be able to adopt latest technologies and advancements. As such, they must update with latest technical innovations such as soft wares, devices, platforms, etc.

Further it can be concluded that a good talent manager has to be creative, open minded, ready to change and face challenges, has to be a good listener, observer, life-long learner and someone with positive attitude. (Thrive, 2016)
